POEM: DEMOCKERACY

Where are the debates?
Where is the discourse?

Why are volumes higher,
As the terrible blaze fire?
Maybe it's because,
The best of minds are for hire.

The bright chasing money,
The snide chasing power.

They promise us better days,
Shit'll be better tomorrow.
But all that sees the light of day
Is more trouble and more sorrow.

Aggressive progressives pray
As logic fails to persist,
They have labels to label
every rebel a terrorist.

You don't love your country,
You lack patriotism,
The regime's got the best of us
Looking through their prism.

Stop, stand, speak don't let
Your country be a prison
Don't let freshly printed notes,
Be slyly used to buy your votes,

Why won't our judgments be clouded,
When their intentions are shrouded,
Veiled and protected, much like their
Interests are vested and money invested
Safely off shore in foreign lands and gold.

The bottle is new and shiny
But the wine is the same old
A vague political solution,
The promise of evolution,

Some things just don't happen till
There's a fucking revolution.

  1. Really nice read. I enjoyed it a lot. Just thought that rhyming in a couple of places didn't flow naturally. But then writing political poetry is tough. All the best. Keep em coming.
